Department of School Education

The Department of School Education, Andhra Pradesh is the administering authority for primary and secondary level education in the State. The department has the following objectives-

- Make education available to all children in the age group of 5 to 15 years.
- Make sure the admission of children in school.
- Make sure that children shall not drop out from school.
- Ensure the minimum quality standard of education in the state.
- Provide lunch to the school children under mid day meal scheme in primary schools which fall under the government, local bodies and aided managements.
- Supplying textbooks to children of class 1 to 5 enrolled in the schools under the government, local bodies and aided managements.
- Supplying free textbooks to children of classes 6 to 10 belonging to Backward Classes (BC), Scheduled Caste (SC.) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) and enrolled in the schools under the government, local bodies and aided managements.
- Provide training to the teachers.
- Strengthen and maintain standards of Pre-service Teacher Education Programs to make sure quality of education.
- Ensure community contribution in intensification the school education system within the State.
